Square Deal Stud, the farm, occupies just under three hundred acres of rolling countryside in southern Ohio.

We realize that Ohio is not the most glamorous place to raise Thoroughbreds, but we've found it perfectly suited to our needs. The land was affordable, the horses can experience all four seasons and it's close enough to the Bluegrass for us to patronize the great stud farms without having to compete with them.

Another thing that separates us from a lot of other farms is the way we raise our foals. Our homebreds grow up in large pastures and spend almost all of their times out of doors. They are not broken to saddle until nearly their second birthdays and rarely join the string at the racetrack until July or August. Very few of them make their debuts until they are officially three.
