Square Deal Stud is a racing and breeding operation committed to raising sound and sane Thoroughbreds that are capable of staying classic distances and that will continue to be useful once their racing careers end. Our horses may not have million-dollar pedigrees, but they are bred to win, and win often, over a number of seasons.

Some of our horses are homebreds, others claims and others purchased at auction. All have one thing in common: they will be winners for a long time.

We at Square Deal firmly believe that all horses should live comfortable lives before, during and after their racetrack careers.

Therefore, all of our horses who do not join our breeding program are retrained for new jobs. Some of our horses have gone on to be successful hunter/jumpers, while others live the life of leisure as trail horses and family pets.

Horses that have proven their racing ability, their heart and their soundness at the track are retired to Square Deal's Ohio farm.

Our first homebreds race this year and we've never seen such lovely youngsters. Of course, we're probably biased.
