Square Deal Stud...It's about the horses...





Square Deal Stud is concerned about more than winning. Our goal is to breed and race sound and sane racehorses with the ability and durability to win at classic distances--and win often. From the very beginning, our horses are raised to be horses, not racing machines. Youngsters are turned loose in large pastures to develop their muscles and competitive instincts naturally through running and play. They will not feel the weight of a rider until it is nearly their second birthday. At the races, our horses are given the time they need to develop and the time they need to recover from the stresses and strains of racing. Once their racing careers are over, our horses are either added to our growing breeding program or retrained for second careers. When a horse is finished at the track, it will normally have more than half of its life still in front of it. We work to make sure that they will remain happy, comfortable and useful until the end of their lives. It's not about money. It's about love for the game and, especially, the wonderful animals that make it all possible and worthwhile.
